Simple Family Vacation Planning eBook Emma Buckley

This is a hard book to rate. For the target audience, family (2 generation) with kids who have not traveled before, then the book is a good tool. If you have traveled, are not traveling with kids, have multiple (3) generations (such as grandparents, parents, kids) the book is less useful.

Some good things about the book.
- Emma lists a number of reference sites. Though I am an experience traveler, I was not familiar with all them.
- For family just starting out with the task of planning that first vacation with the kids, this book will help you organized and make sure that everything goes smoothly.
- The books is well laid out and covers the major areas for planning a trip.

Some thing that did not work well for me.
- I am an experienced traveler, logging 50-100,000 air miles a year. This book offered me nothing - I am not the target audience.
- There are contradictory statements in the book. For example, Emma recommends wearing shoes that easily removed when flying (makes going through the TSA line less painful). A few pages latter, Emma recommends wearing your heaviest shoes when flying - could be hiking boots. Her logic is to reduce the weight of the checked baggage.
- Emma missed some other opportunities to improve the flying experience such as registering with TSA/airlines to get on their precheck to speed up TSA screening, ...

Overall, this a good, not great book, if you have not traveled with your kids yet. If you don't have kids, will be traveling with grandparents (especially older grandparents who are not as mobile), have traveled with your kids before, then this book will only have minimal benefit for you.

Simple Family Vacation Planning eBook Emma Buckley Reviews

This is a simple book full of common sense for planning family vacations. The book suggests multiple travel sites to visit, and some of the basic planning items for a family.

An experienced travel planner would likely sniff at this book's simplicity. It is clearly meant for a young person with kids, trying to figure out what to do, how to make the kids into pleasant companions, rather than extraneous baggage. For 99 cents, a good starter kit for a trip plan.
As a newer mother, I found this book to be helpful in the ways of planning a trip with my family. Sometimes the common sense items are overlooked due to stressing about making sure that you do everything you want before leaving. So I did find some useful tips to keep a level head!
I received a copy from the author in exchange for my honest review, so here it is. This guide is more targeted to a family with small kids and has some insightful ideas for planning your family vacation. Since I do not vacation very often and do not have children, there was only a few ideas that I thought were helpful. But for a family with kids it would help you get organized.
