With this book I oscillated back and forth on what the actual rating should be and really wish that Amazon would allow reviewers to put in a numeric ranking. If I was given this opportunity my official rating of this book would be 3.25 stars. This wasn't a bad read but this book didn't really pick up for me until almost the ending. Let me start off with the characters. Rico and Terri. The reason behind why Rico just came home from being in a coma and not giving the woman who was there with him from the beginning did not track at all for me. His explanation of wanting to get himself together and his pride being in the way mildly put just seems like a bunch of hogwash. His level of selfishness was beyond trying for me. It put a blemish on his otherwise perfect character for me. His stubbornness and foolishness was definitely hereditary after watching his father in action. Now as for Terri she was just doing the most for me. After having lost her entire family that she was aware of and the moment she gets what she probably had always pined after, the appearance of her parents, she waits months before contacting them and getting an explanation. That didn't track for me. Saiid and Deede's up and down relationship and her interaction with Santos left me a little puzzled. I get that Saaiid was back and forth and was seemingly unappreciative but her moving forward with Santos so quickly just didn't come across as realistic. For her to be torn between the two when she in essence really didn't know enough about this man to begin developing the level of feelings that she claimed to have developed was a little hypocritical. I think what really took away some of the stars for me was the constant back and forth and the additional backstory that the author included. It slowed the pace of the story line down and in many instances it was confusing. Many of the names were so similar that at times I had to look back through the story to remember who was who. There was action in the story but the action didn't in my opinion draw the reader in or cause us to become more emotionally connected to the characters. I didn't hate this story and I think that this author has the potential to be really, really good but this book just didn't show what I think this author is truly capable of.Product details

This book was great and I would definitely recommend it to my friends. I'm glad that I was able to read book 2 instead of waiting awhile for part 2. I look forward to reading more books from this author.
I really like the story line. I loved Rico.. the only reason I did not give 5 stars is because of the fact that sometimes i would not know who was talking. some chapter's had the characters name at top so it would be hard for me to say who was talking til later in the chapter.
This series has been so exciting, words can't describe how much I've enjoyed Naomi K's work. I highly recommend this series because it's not your usual, the cliff hangers are serious. You will be engage from beginning to end. I can't wait for part 4
My poor rude boy Sa. He finally sets himself free with his feelings and the unthinkable happens. I'm glad that Terrie was time enough for Rico prideful behind as he put it. Hopefully Santana will see that his father was an actual evil, vindictive, jealous hearted snake. I can't wait for part four and I truly believe that you will enjoy this read.
Well what can I say I am dying here... how Saiid get 5 years it just aint right Tsmmy butt better get his tsil out and DeeDee pregnant lawd all hell bout to break lose. Santana and Sunshine are about to be on some messy stuff I can tell. I'm glad Rico and Terri worked out they relationship. Now all we need is for them to get right with they parents.
Miy was too sneaky for me. I loved the bond DeeDee and Rie had. Those two were more like sisters. Mama G was a trip but I loved that woman. She told things how it was. Sa was too funny. That fool met his match. Rico was a trip. That man did crazy things to get the girl he wanted. I couldn't stand his ex though. That chick was dumb. Looking forward to finding out what happens next.
This book keeps you reading! Estes kidnapping Terrie set everyone off & people came out of hiding. Rico and Terrie worked out their relationship which caused her to realize that she should listen to her parents. Rico still can't face his father. Saiid has finally admitted his true feelings to Deedra but he's stressed about his court situation. Can't wait for part 4.
